Students will create their own log for their parents to sign. Each student will have an opportunity for a Show and Tell time in the Library to tell the other students about the book they read.

2nd Grade
Familiarize each student with what books are in the library. Discuss different genres of stories. Have each student read a book. Discuss the basic differences between a Dictionary, Thesaurus, and Encyclopedia. Checking on the comprehension of the students reading will be accomplished by having them create their own book.

Each student will read different books as well as the same books. The reading will be done both silently and aloud to someone in the library. From each book they will create a vocabulary list of words they do not understand and look up the meaning of these words in a dictionary. All work will be accomplished in the Library during class time.
